I play ukuleles and I paint on them!
I wrote this song based on 11 ukuleles I painted.
Words here:
At 3 AM I woke to a dream about flying.
I had wings on my back but scales all over my body.
At 3.30 I went back to sleep and dreamed about drowning.
Thank goodness I had completely turned into a fish.
At 6 in the morning, it was still dark as night.
So, I put on the lights as I put the kettle on.
I love to catch up on what I had read the night before -
It's a memoir about a man who owns 747 ukuleles.
By 10AM I felt my head spinning like swirls of cotton candy -
it must be the hit of caffein kicking in.
Is it Saturday? I rubbed my eyes and noticed
the postman standing outside my door.
At noon I unwrapped the parcel that he had brought me -
I was delighted to find a kaleidoscope inside the box.
When I looked inside (the kaleidoscope) I saw a man
walking on the surface of the moon-
I was the same man who owns 747 ukuleles.
With a blink of an eye(mine) it was 3PM in the afternoon.
The moon in the kaleidoscope became the sound hole of the uke.
When I looked down at my wristwatch as my arms slowly turned into wings,
it was 6PM and the sun had disappeared behind the hills.
I caught a glimpse of a wallaby on a see saw with my younger self
as I flew across the ukulele moon.
All thoughts and meanderings vanished from my mind at this moment -
When I heard a gentle voice whispering in the dark:
We battle on, star, with great courage and not a lotta cash.
We battle on, star, with great courage and not a lotta cash.
